The work was created as my reaction to insensitive visual elements in public spaces (advertising / graffiti) and the city’s urbanism. The resulting project visually revived the concrete supporting walls of the motorway at Štefánikova street in Košice. In the past, there was an artificial river flowing through the exact same area, called Mlynský potok (the Miller’s Creek), but by the end of 1960’s (the Cold war period), its bed was diverted elsewhere to allow a solution for the ever increasing traffic. The intention of the work was to symbolically describe the place and return its original atmosphere to it, which is symbolized visually by the motive of flowing water. Though very close to the language of street art, this realisation was not done anonymously, therefore transforming my personal graffiti experience into a positively viewed piece of public art.
